Why Choose HUDSON Training?

Learning Trends

Research shows that most people use online courses to do their personal development learning. The trigger for what subject they search for generally comes from a problem or unanswered questions encountered at their worksite or during home interest activities. Online courses are a great way to give you that added theoretical knowledge to stand out from the crowd.

Our courses will provide you with a knowledge foundation but in order to get the full benefits and understanding from this newly gained knowledge it is a must that you practise and apply it to your on-the-job daily activities. By selecting a variety of HUDtrained course you can blend your learning programs to match your specific needs.

For companies looking to make permanent cultural and lasting change to their workforce it is recommended to train in Groups and immediately apply course based KPI’s to ensure and measure improvement is embedded into routine daily tasks.

Adult Learning:

A problem for both learners and trainers when teaching adults are they come with lots of mental filters that are collected from good and bad experiences throughout their life. Yes you can teach an old dog new tricks, in fact it is easier to teach an old dog new tricks because they have more existing knowledge to link the new info to. You just need to build trust, work around these filters, respect their current knowledge and make very sure the new information is practical, relevant to their needs and if applied is easier than what they currently do.

Children have less filters because they haven’t been exposed to all of life’s experiences yet. For this reason, Trainers and parents should take their responsibility as teachers very seriously and ensure the new information they provide is correct and complete. It must be enough for the learner to make sensible, smart, safe decisions. Always confirm they have all the information by getting them to demonstrate the activity under your supervision before allowing them to go alone. Often the smartest decision for learner is to stop and call for assistance or guidance before continuing. Teach your learners it is ok to have the courage to call for help. Build a work culture to allow free flowing respectful and constructive communication both up and down workforce and management levels.

“Good decisions come from experience. Experience comes from making bad decisions.”

Mark Twain.

Workplace knowledge and Learning methods:

A few truths about workplace learning practices:

The majority of On-the-job learning is done in a non-formal way and delivered by work colleagues who often lack the correct skills or information about the subject they are teaching because they learnt it from another colleague in the same way. They may feel they are experts, but often they are not.
The informal method works very well in a mentoring situation, but the Mentor must be qualified or highly skilled in that subject and well informed in the best method of transferring the correct information to the learner.
In some countries the act of sharing work related information is highly protected. This is to ensure their trainee won’t take-over their job. In extreme cases the information that is share may actually impede the learner or cause an incident.
Expat trainers often don’t understand the big picture surrounding their job. (In most cases, their job is to do themself out of a job.) Hand over their knowledge to the locals and proudly move on.
Many workforce recruiters and now large companies use AI for the first pass screening new job applicants. They look for key words, skills or credentials as the measure to shortlist for interviews.
Our Short courses will provide your foundation knowledge based on daily experiences and are not job type specific. They focus on generic subjects that relate to all job levels. For example, Supervisors or Admin Staff but not the industry type of Supervision ie. Mining Supervisor, Civil Works Supervisor, Mechanical Supervisor. This means all Supervising positions can benefit from our course especially those new to the Role and the Certificate will provide you with evidence you passed above 80% competency and not just attended and left without gaining knowledge.

The Acronym tools in the courses will help put your current knowledge into an organised structure and teach you more about down-the-line cause and effect which can impact productivity.
